Scottish Metal Band DARK FUSION Reaches Final Stage Of 'Rock Star Lottery' Contest

January 19, 2007

Alexandra Hunt of icLanarkshire reports that Airdrie, Scotland, United Kingdom-based heavy-metal band DARK FUSION (MySpace page) are a step closer to winning a £1.5 million record deal — after reaching the final stage of worldwide Internet music contest, the Rock Star Lottery.

The first elimination in the final stage was held last week where the final 50 were whittled down to 45.

Five bands will now be axed every week until only five are left, and then the top three will go on tour in the U.K.

In eight weeks there will be a final vote when the winner of the record deal will be announced.

Lead guitarist Robert Farmer said: "It is now that we need support more than ever! Support your local heavy metal act — even if you don't like heavy metal!"

All of the Top 50 bands had their votes zeroed for this final phase of the RSL, and they will be put back to zero every week for each new set of eliminations.

He added: "It feels more within our reach now, when it first went back to zero we were 10th out of the final 50, so we were at least in the top 10."

Since May 2006 the Rock Star Lottery has gone from over 800 bands down to the final 45.
